Presentations in “Applied Solid Mechanics”

P60303-083121On March 3rd 2016, six teams of mechanical engineering students presented their projects within the course “Applied Solid Mechanics”.

In this course, students have learned how to find appropriate dimensions and loading of constructions that are affected by fatigue stresses or are joined by welds, and also how to choose safety values by considering the design philosophy. As part of the course, students have carried out a team project where they designed or chose the dimension of a construction in order to learn how to apply the solid mechanics theory and calculation/simulation methods in real life.

P60303-120842Student projects ranged from dimensioning a part of the construction from the Volvo car manufacturing process (proposed by Volvo Car Body Components in Olofström) to designing a bottle fixture, a safety brake for a baby carriage and a multifunctional fitness chair.
