Congratulations Docent Alessandro Bertoni!

Alessandro Bertoni today held his trial lecture for appointment as Docent (Associate Professor) at Blekinge Institute of Technology. The lecture took the audience on a trip on how engineers have developed solutions to improve the world over the centuries, and why it is so relevant to apply and improve design methods and processes in our daily work.

Congratulations Docent Alessandro Bertoni!

Title of the lecture: Design methods: why do we need them for a better world.

Abstract “In 2015, for the first time in history, all the United Nations Member States called for a global action to face the incumbent challenges of sustainable development. The urgency of concrete actions is no longer a matter of debate. At the same time, the global accelerating growth in technology, wealth, and education proves that we are living in the most innovative and fastest era in the history of mankind and that we have a potential for creating innovation that is higher than any other human who ever lived before us. The key questions are: Do we want to exploit such potential? And, how can we do that as engineers developing new products and services? Product development is a complex, multi-disciplinary, activity that requires specific methods and well-defined processes to be effective in delivering the desired solution.”
