Mobile power for a greener work site
Programme: Course project (add course code below in comment)
Course: MT2569
Corporate partner: Volvo CE
Completed: October 2025
Challenge: Explore user needs and develop a user-centered solution for how machines operate in extreme conditions or extreme weather
Solution: Power disruption are becoming more common as we go towards electrification. These power disruptions can be caused by either extreme weather or by sabotage etc. To solve these uncertainties a mobile battery pack was developed. To help reduce the uncertainties of the electrification
Impact: Many users expressed that they are sceptical for a electrification right now, because of the big risks and uncertainties. With our solution, the users will have robust, reliable and independent power sources.
Prototypes: We built a low fidelity prototype to show potential users and have different user experiences.
We also built a critical function prototype out of laser cut wood and battery holder for 4 AA batteris. These batteries would showcase our swappable battery modules.
Quotes from sponsor/partner: Could be a great concept in collaboration with the new Volvo FMX. Martin Frank, Volvo CE
