Professor with experience and skills from applied research and projects in the intersection between academia and industry. Experience from primarily digitalized product development, and innovation engineering, within the aerospace, automotive and industrial sector but also in healthcare sector.
Marco Bertoni Associate Professor & Deputy Head of Department
I graduated in Management Engineering at the University of Bergamo (UniBG) in Italy in 2004, and I earned a Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico of Milano (PoliMI) in 2008. The same year I joined Luleå University of Technology as postdoctoral fellow, becoming Associate Professor (Docent) in Product Innovation in 2012. Since April 2013 I work at Blekinge Institute of Technology, where I am developing my competences in Value Driven Design and Engineering Knowledge Management.
Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering, Alessandro Bertoni earned a Ph.D. in Product Innovation at Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) in 2013, with a previous background in Management Engineering at the University of Bergamo (Italy). Soon before starting his academic career he matured some industrial experience by working as R&D assistant and general manager assistant respectively in Belgium and Italy.
Christian Johansson (CMJ), got his PhD at Luleå University of Technology in 2009 within the area of knowledge-based decision support in a product development context. The applications were primarily within product development in the aerospace manufacturing sector, which is required to be risk averse and have a high degree of process formalization.
Andreas Larsson is an Innovation Leader and Associate Professor at Blekinge Institute of Technology. He is also an Innovation Practice Advisor and Case Manager at the MSF Sweden Innovation Unit (Läkare Utan Gränser / Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders). Andreas’s responsibility at BTH is innovation support and strategic partnerships.
Johan Wall Assistant Professor & Head of Department
Johan Wall’s main academic interest are abilities supporting more effective decisions in product development. This is the common thread of his involvement in research as well as in engineering education. Besides this, he is a strong believer in the power of making and is heavily involved in Karlskrona Makerspace.
Dr Mats F. Walter got his PhD at Lund Institute of Technology in 1993 within the area of manufacturing engineering. The applications were within machining and the deformation of work pieces. Theoretical as well as experimental studies and simulation were conducted in order to predict manufacturing tolerances after turning operations. His thesis was awarded the Oscar II stipendium at Lund University 1993.
Sharon Kao-Walter is a professor in Solid Mechanics since April 2015 at the department of Mechanical Engineering in Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH). Sharon took her Bachelor of Sc. from Shanghai Jiao-Tong University and got a Technology Licentiate Degree from Lund University of Technology in 1991. After working for 8 years as a development engineer at Tetra Pak in Lund, she moved to BTH as half time’s teacher and achieved her PhD degree from BTH 2005, she became PhD supervisor (docent) in 2011.
Md. Shafiqul Islam has a Licentiate degree in fracture mechanics in context of packaging industry. Research emphasis is on simulation driven product development. At present preparing to defend PhD degree at department of Mechanical Engineering of Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden.
