AI‑powered support for municipal XR innovation
Municipalities and public institutions often lack the technical knowledge, time, and internal resources needed to understand, evaluate, and adopt XR technologies.
The solution was the development of XR Pathfinder, a digital decision‑support platform designed to help municipalities and public institutions understand, evaluate, and adopt XR technologies.

The Challenge
Municipalities and public institutions often lack the technical knowledge, time, and internal resources needed to understand, evaluate, and adopt XR technologies. Staff members struggle to determine whether XR is relevant for their specific problems, which tools or hardware to choose, how much it will cost, and how long implementation will take. This knowledge gap leads to hesitation, slow adoption, and missed opportunities for innovation.
The Solution
The solution was the development of XR Pathfinder, a digital decision‑support platform designed to help municipalities and public institutions understand, evaluate, and adopt XR technologies. The system combines two complementary AI‑powered tools:
– “Find My XR Fit” – an automated recommendation engine that analyzes user needs and generates a tailored XR adoption plan, including software suggestions, hardware options, budget estimates, and implementation timelines.
– “Ask Our Assistant” chatbot – an accessible conversational interface that allows users to ask open‑ended questions and receive clear explanations grounded in a dedicated knowledge base.
Together, these tools simplify the complexity of XR adoption by providing structured guidance, transparent reasoning, and easy‑to‑understand information for non‑technical users. The platform reduces uncertainty, supports informed decision‑making, and helps municipalities explore XR opportunities with confidence.
Impact & Results
XR Pathfinder helps public sector teams make smarter decisions about XR without needing technical expertise. Instead of asking the right questions, users simply answer guided qeustions – making the process easier and more accessible. The AI doesn’t generate content; it processes a curated knowledge base to deliver clear, reliable recommendations. With a fully automated workflow, no human input is needed once it’s set up. It’s scalable, low-cost, and designed to support innovation in municipalities and beyond.
Prototyping & Testing
We built a prototype of XR Pathfinder, a web-based AI tool that helps municipalities explore XR solutions. It includes a form that asks users guided questions, an AI agent that processes the answers, and an automated workflow that delivers tailored recommendations.
We learned that users prefer answering questions over asking them, especially when they’re unsure where to start. The AI’s role as a processor — not a generator — made the results more trustworthy. The workflow ran without human input, confirming its potential for scalable, low-cost deployment.
