New research project CEROC!

New research project CEROC!

We are part of CEROC – Cstrider Multi-Ship Efficiency Remote Operations Centre – a new European Space Agency – ESA feasibility study exploring how multiple autonomous electric ferries can be supervised from a centralized Remote Operations Centre (ROC) using space-based assets.

75% of EU citizens live in cities with available waterways, yet most remain untapped for passenger transport. CEROC investigates satellite communication, Earth observation, and GNSS integration to enable safe, energy-efficient multi-ship operations — even where mobile networks fall short.

Our role at BTH: technology requierements, simulation-based evaluation, and exploring AI-driven fleet optimization, building on our existing digital twin research with Cstrider.

A collaboration with Cstrider AB, Zeabuz, Chalmers University of Technology, and BTH — funded through ESA ARTES 4.0. The project builds on previous joint research in RECS – Resilience in electricity & charging systems | 2024-2025.
