Challenge: The purpose of the project is to develop an autonomous robotic system consisting of two robots. Together, the robots will perform line following and hand over balls to the correct delivery station within a given time frame. The task involves designing and programming the robots, as well as analyzing the cost of developing the robotic system.
Solution: Two robots that work together: Robot one picks up the balls and then performs a drive-by drop-off to the second robot, which then sorts the balls by their size and drops each ball into the assigned box.
Impact: –
Prototypes: The first prototype of the conveyor lift proved to be too heavy, and therefore we needed to add counterweights to reduce the load on the motor. Another prototype that was developed was the transfer box, where the main lesson learned was that we needed a way to fold it out because the robot was too wide. Other lessons learned were that the positioning of the sensors was very important.
