Model-driven decision support naval mine-clearing | 2024-2026

This industrial PhD project with PhD candidate Sofia Schön between Saab Kockums and BTH develops model-driven decision support for future naval mine-clearing operations in the Baltic Sea. The work focuses on modelling and simulating complete mine-countermeasure systems of systems, where surface vessels, unmanned surface and underwater vehicles, sensors and clearance divers interact in complex operational scenarios. The expected outcome is a simulation framework and demonstrator cases that allow planners and system developers to virtually design, compare and communicate alternative mine-clearing concepts before they are implemented in practice, thereby supporting Saab’s development of next-generation mine-countermeasure capabilities and strengthening the Marine Technology Center initiative in Karlskrona.
