Packages are the means of preservation, distribution and convenience of use for food, medicine and other consumer products. Introduction of new packaging materials or package opening techniques for better user experience, forces new design measurements which require a large number of prototype developments and physical testing. In order to achieve more rapid and robust designs, finite element method (FEM) simulations are widely utilized in packaging industries to compliment physical testing.
Here at BTH we work in close collaboration with Tetra Pak processing and packaging solutions under the model driven development and decision support project (MDS3).
Currently we are looking for two groups of masters students who are interested to work on development of advanced testing and characterization methods for packaging materials. More detail on these two proposals can be found in the attached documents. Interested students are encouraged to contact earliest possible.
- Project Proposal 1_Development of a Nakajima test rig and its potential variants setup for polymer film failure testing driven by FEM simulation.
- Project Proposal 2_Modelling of an orthotropic plastic material for Abaqus based on experimental evidence
