Professor Marco Bertoni and researcher Giulia Wally Scurati gave an open speech at Virtual Production Studio Lab / Karlskrona Blue Port Studios as part of the Världsarvsfestivalen 2025.
The event was an opportunity to share work within the EU RESIST Project with the open public, showcasing how AugmentCity‘s Graphical Digital Twin and XR solutions can increase awareness and support strategic decision making in the domains of climate resiliency and cultural heritage preservation at the UNESCO site of Karlskrona.
It is extremely valuable to present and gather feedback from the general public on solutions specifically designed for citizen involvement. Visualizations and interactive environments sparked curiosity and engagement, allowing visitors to connect with familiar places and gain a deeper understanding of the impacts of climate change on their surroundings, says Giulia.
The presentation was part of the ongoing collaboration between Blekinge Tekniska Högskola (BTH), Region Blekinge and Karlskrona Kommun, exploring how digitalization and innovation can increase accessibility, foster creativity, and encourage dialogue with citizens about the World Heritage Site’s future.
Marco Bertoni: We see great potential in collaborating with the Naval Port of Karlskrona, bringing our expertise in digital twin technology and immersive visualisation to support citizen engagement and decision-making in prevention, development, and resilience.
