ME310 converging in Sweden

During the final week of March the global ME310 student team working with Volvo Group Connected Solutions met up in Sweden to further advance the project towards their final prototype, due to be presented in June at Stanford.

The week kicked off with meetings at Volvo in Gothenburg where the students got insights into the company and also were able to present their progress as well as run a workshop.

Thereafter they went to BTH in Karlskrona to work through the feedback as well as needfinding and testing of recent prototypes, in order to find a direction forward.

Their chosen direction has been to care for the unprotected people that are moving around in the near vicinity of the heavy vehicles whether it’s trucks or buses. Many incidents occur because either the driver or the unprotected human, for instance a cyclist is not aware of each other’s presence or imminent actions.

The students will therefore work towards enhancing this awareness and call upon one of these stakeholder’s attention of the other (and vice-versa) – by use of a designed and manufactured product that will be presented at the Stanford EXPE at Stanford University’s campus on June 6.
