Biography

Marco Bertoni has experience from European FP6 and FP7 research projects in the domain of aerospace, working closely with industrial companies in the topics of Product Service System (PSS) design, Value Driven Design (VDD) and enterprise collaboration.

The research objective is to understand how knowledge form the later phases of a system lifecycle (about how the product is manufactured, operated, maintained, upgraded, remanufactured or recycled) can be made available and structured in models to support decision making activities during the preliminary design.

The findings from the research work relate to: 1) the engineering need for visualizing “technical performances” and “in-service” information during preliminary design, 2) decision making models that use value to guide early concept selection activities, and 3) the methodological and technological enablers for value visualization and value-driven decision support.
