Knowledge Enabled Engineering project 2018

Students in the course MT2545 Knowledge Enabled Engineering had today their final group project presentation at Dynapac Compaction Equipment AB. Under LP2, Mathilda Weinert, Anton Sterner, Simon Thorstensson and Mostafa Salman have worked with enterprise modelling and simulation tools to optimize the drum manufacturing process of small and large asphalt compactors.

MT2545 Knowledge Enabled Engineering is a 7.5 credits elective course. Its purpose is to provide mechanical engineering students with knowledge/skills on methods and tools for engineering knowledge management within a cross-functional product/service development context.

In the project, students have worked with the development of AS-IS models of the DCE shop floor, using the IDEF0 and Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) techniques. From the results of this modelling activity, they were able to generate ideas for making the process more efficient. The performances of the new (TO-BE) process configuration were further verified using the AnyLogic simulation suite.
