Your Erasmus in Italy: BTH signs agreement with the University of Bergamo

A new Erasmus agreement for students and teachers exchange has been signed between Blekinge Institute of Technology and the University of Bergamo, in Italy.

Starting from March 1st 2017, it will be possible for master students in engineering to spend a total of 6 months at UniBG in the framework of the Erasmus Plus mobility programme. The agreement also covers staff mobility, from a minimum of 2 days and 8 hours/week of teaching.

The University of Bergamo is ranked 401-500 in the Times Higher Education World University ranking, and hosts about 17,000 students (undergraduates and graduates), increasing with a 7% growth rate per year. The Engineering Faculty at Bergamo University is ranked 1st in Italy according to the Censis-Repubblica 2013 ranking. The campus of engineering is located in Dalmine, the industrial outskirts of Bergamo, as well as inside the science park “Kilometro Rosso“, one of the top 10 excellence places for Innovation in Italy.

Bergamo is located in Lombardia, a region in Northern Italy with more than 10 millions inhabitants and one of the highest GDP pro capita in Europe. According to the New York Times: “those who simply pass through risk missing a world-class mix of diverse architecture, impressive art collections (often tucked away in unlikely spots) and special gastronomy.”

Bergamo is also a place for sport lovers: skiing, hiking, cycling and football are tightly intertwined with local culture and traditions. Bergamo is easy to reach too: its airport is the 3rd largest in Italy, being the Southern Europe hub for Ryanair (2 direct daily flights from CPH) and other low cost airlines, turning over 11 million passengers in 2016.
